Yes, it’s that time of year again. That blessed week in the calendar when the extravagant (and often ridiculous) costumes are dug up from the dress up closet, the not-quite-good enough singing “talent” of europe bid for popularity, and when over-enthusiatic hosts try to speak French. Welcome to Eurovision 2009 – Europes “favourite TV-show” (I’m not sure what research this quote is based on).

Russia is our beaming host country this year and our two presenters (Supermodel, Natalia Vodianova; and Russian TV Personality, Andrey Malakhov) could not be more smitten with their roles.

But enough underlying sarcasm. Eurovision is a celebration of European Broadcasting and the spirit of music. Though it has been met with harsh criticisms and snide commentary, over the past 53 years Eurovision has provided us with some good laughs and plenty of memorable moments.

Who is the random guy on the far right?

Some of the biggest Eurovision stars of the past such as CELINE DION and ABBA were all featured on the show, as well as some of the best and worst acts we’ve had the pleasure (or displeasure) of seeing on our screens.

Also featured on the show, an exclusive interview with Barney from  Little Birdy. This award winning Australian band have just released their 3rd studio album Confetti, and I caught up with Barney to discuss their rise to fame and their new record.

Check out their myspace ( for upcoming tour dates and album info!
