Gus & Miles, Break it Down, Thursday 28th May.

01Jun09

It was another groundbreaking episode of Gus & Miles on your favourite FM station, Radio Adelaide. As usual we probed and questioned the deep philosophical norms which underpin our lives, and came away from the show both enlightened and eager to continue our journey. We also played some bitchin’ tunes.

Warsaw Flowers – Toms Song
Dandy Warhols – We used to be friends
Lior – Sitting with a stranger
Go Betweens – Dive for your memory
Porcupine Tree – Shallow
Weezer – Undone (the Sweater song)
Jurassic 5 – The Game

Once again, we dug out another gem and presented it in our From the Archives segment. The switchboards lit up and we were both congratulated and berated for our decision to play a sample of Gary Neville’s erotic late-night talk show ‘Up late: live’, an example of the liberated and sexually-exploratory nature of the early 1970s here at 5UV.

Gary Neville doing what he does best: solving complicated marital and sexual problems.

And, as with every show, there was Shitty Facts, where we learned that the average age of a squirrel is nine years, that pigs pick up sticks and keep them in their mouths when there’s gonna be an earthquake, and that cats sleep intermittently due to constantly waking up to check that their surroundings are safe. Paranoid little fuckers!

This shot taken prior to the cat waking up, terrfied of the imminent danger about to befall it. Then it'll go straight back to sleep.

Tune in again on Thursday June 11th, 11pm through midnight, for more from all of us here at the Gus and Miles team (aka. me and Miles).
